The universe has been fully regenerated: new systems, new planets, new asteroid fields. All player accounts are kept - you simply start fresh with a brand new empire, on solid new ground.
EXPLORATION IS NOW ESSENTIAL
This is the biggest change: research is no longer paid with mineral and crystal, but with Research Points, a resource you now have to go out and find in space.
- A new Science Lab module can be fitted onto your ships.
- A new fleet order, "Explore / Survey", lets you harvest the research points found on a planet - a limited, non-renewable reserve that encourages constant exploration instead of camping the same spot forever.
- Your research points stock is now visible right in the research window and on your planets.
A REWORKED ECONOMY
- The single planet storage is replaced by three independent warehouses (mineral, crystal, biomass): each resource now has its own building and its own capacity to manage.
- A new Nuclear Plant joins the Solar Plant to produce more energy, at a higher building cost.
- Minable asteroid fields are now generated across systems.
COMBAT: NEVER LOSE TRACK AGAIN
- A battle-in-progress indicator now appears directly on the galaxy map, on the systems involved.
- Click it to rejoin the battle, or send another fleet to reinforce one already underway.
ETHICS, SPECIES & GOVERNMENT
- The Ethics and Species screens in the Empire Hub have been completely redesigned (icons, descriptions, clearer selection).
- A new Authority system (form of government) makes its appearance.
- New research bonuses are now available: nanites, thermodynamics, drones, biotech and several other technologies now grant concrete effects to your empire.
CREATE YOUR EMPIRE, IN DEPTH
The empire creation page has been enriched: you can now choose your government, your ethics, your species (type and traits), and your leader's traits, as well as name your starting world - all right from the moment you create your empire. The flag editor has also been improved (live preview, every shape available).
QUALITY OF LIFE
- Your ships and modules now show a description and are sorted in a more logical order (basic modules and the Science module first, the most advanced ones last).
- You can now rename your planets, whose ID is now shown discreetly next to their name.
- The Orbital Shipyard is renamed Naval Shipyard.
ON THE WEBSITE
The homepage now displays recent chronicles from the universe and a Top 3 Empires leaderboard.
