Commanders of the Galaxy,
A new era of galactic warfare begins with update v4.10.1: introducing Orbital Fortresses and the complete overhaul of Planetary Sieges into turn-based hex tactical battles!
🏰 1. Orbital Fortresses & Space Stations (StationCore)
You can now construct massive orbital citadels in the Shipyard using the new StationCore module:
- Permanent Orbit: Orbital stations have no propulsion and stay permanently locked in orbit of their host planet (speed 0).
- Defensive Stance: Starbases are immovable bastions dedicated to planetary defense and cannot flee or attack their own colony.
- Ship Builder Integration: Dedicated starbase interface with specialized silhouettes and layout.
⚡ 2. Five New Citadel-Exclusive Modules
- Orbital Defense Battery: Heavy surface-to-orbit artillery firing devastating long-range volleys (Range 1-5).
- Planetary Shield Projector: Massive shield generator deploying an Aegis Bubble (+120 shields) shielding both station and colony.
- Orbital Jamming Array: Wideband distortion array ionizing and blinding hostile targeting systems (Range 1-6).
- Orbital Gantry: Automated repair bay restoring +120 hull HP to the station and orbiting allied vessels.
- Citadel Reactor: High-density fusion plant delivering +4 AP per turn (enabling 10 to 14+ AP per turn) and unlocking Citadel Overcharge (+100 shields and instant EMP/heat purge).
⚔️ 3. Tactical Turn-Based Planetary Sieges
Planetary invasions now take place directly on the tactical hex battlefield!
- Besieged Planet at Center (0, 0): Stationary in the middle of the hex grid, the planet fires ground batteries, flak barrages, and garrison counter-strikes beneath an animated pulsing hexagonal orbital shield.
- Fortresses in Orbital Ring (1, 0): Orbital stations deploy in the immediate ring slots around the planet to form the first line of defense.
- Fleet Maneuvers: Attacking armada and defending fleets maneuver freely around the world to decide the fate of the colony.
🛡️ 4. Defense Postures & Tactical Retreat
- Defend Planet: Stationed fleets automatically scramble to defend the world alongside ground defenses (Team 1).
- Join Attack: Third-party aggressive fleets in orbit can join the besieging armada (Team 0).
- Flee Orbit: Non-combat ships set to flee retreat immediately to the star upon attack initiation.
- In-Battle Tactical Retreat: A new "Retreat / Flee" action allows mobile ships to disengage and escape the battlefield to save their fleet.
Fortify your colonies, command your citadels, and may your empire reign supreme among the stars!
